Tax, risk management and benefits expertise

Many businesses do not have the room in their budget to hire full-time expertise in tax, employee benefits and risk management. Yet, they still need that 'know how' in order to meet their goals. Business owners may be spending a larger portion of their day on these issues instead of being able to focus on growing their business. Sean Bradley is a CPA who also holds a Masters Degree in Taxation. He has 30 years of experience in tax, benefits, and risk management.

Sean spent many years in public accounting, including a “Big 4” tax department, as well as time as the top tax person in publicly held manufacturing corporations. From 2000 to 2013 Sean worked in the staffing industry.  Sean was Senior Vice President of Tax, Benefits and Risk Management for a global, publicly-held HR consulting and staffing firm.

One of area of Sean's responsibilities while in the staffing industry was employee benefits programs.  As part of his benefits administration responsibilities, he led the development of the response to the Affordable Care Act for the self-insured medical program, with over $50 million in annual costs and 20,000 eligible employees.

This effort included ensuring compliance with the complex new law and minimizing the cost impact of health care reform to the employer.

Sean’s benefits leadership also comprised both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans with over $200 million in assets, as well as various ancillary benefits plans, the successful integration of health and welfare benefit plans, and the retirement programs of acquired entities.

Sean was also responsible for all aspects of taxation for the $4 billion US HR consulting and staffing business. Responsibilities included tax planning, acquisition and reorganization structuring, including a $700 million domestic acquisition, transfer pricing, compliance for federal and multi-state income tax, sales and use tax, payroll tax, and personal property tax.  Sean was also responsible for representation at examinations by various tax jurisdictions.

Additionally, he was also responsible for the risk management function, including oversight of the purchase of property and casualty insurance.

He is a Member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
